How to play Snake
- Press an arrow key, Space or Play to start. On a phone, swipe on the board or use the arrow buttons below it.
- Steer the snake to the coral dots. Each one adds a point and makes the snake one square longer.
- Don't run into the walls or your own tail. Press Space to pause. Before you start, pick a speed, wrap-around walls, or Speed up as it grows for a snake that gets faster as it gets longer.
Tips for a high score
- Hug the walls early. Run the snake along the edges while it’s short, so the middle stays open for later.
- Turn in loops, not zigzags. Sweeping the board in long rows leaves your tail in tidy lines you can follow.
- Slow down to learn. Slow speed gives you time to plan two moves ahead. Each speed keeps its own best score, so a slow record is still a record.
The game pauses on its own when you switch tabs or windows, so a phone call won’t cost you a run.
