About US tons and kilograms
This page uses the US ton, also called the short ton: exactly 2,000 pounds, or 907.18474 kg. Multiply tons by 907.18 to get kilograms. For a rough answer multiply by 900, which is less than 1% low.
Three different tons are in use. The metric ton (tonne) is 1,000 kg, the UK long ton is 2,240 lb (1,016.05 kg) and the US short ton is the lightest of the three. Truck weights, gravel, steel and freight in the US are quoted in short tons.
